In the last couple of seasons, some managers have inquired about the locking of non-playoff teams. Although this procedure has been in place since the creation of the League, we understand the desire from some to have the opportunity to pick up a released / available player prior to the offseason.
For this reason, we offer this poll to all managers. The results will determine what we do as of the 2022-23 season.
Option 1 - status quo (keep locking non-playoff teams, disallowing them from making roster moves) Option 2 - change (allow non-playoff teams the opportunity to make roster moves)

Prior to responding to Anthony's message, I chose to do an analysis of added players during the playoffs, from March 28th until April 17th.
In total, 30 different players were added by playoff teams in this time span. By the end, only 13 players remain on teams. These players are :
Jordan Spence (LA-D) Logan Thompson (VGK-G) Ryan Lomberg (FRA-LW) Adam Larsson (SEA-D) Jordan Greenway (MIN-LW/RW) Martin Fehervary (WAS-D) Kasperi Kapanen (PIT-LW/RW) Mathieu Joseph (OTT-C/LW/RW) J.T. Compher (COL-C/RW) Mike Matheson (PIT-D) Patric Hornqvist (FLA-RW) Marc McLaughlin (BOS-C/RW) Frederick Gaudreau (MIN-C)
From this group, all players were available prior to the playoffs except one:
Jordan Greenway (MIN-LW/RW)
It will be interesting to see how many of the above 13 players will make the 27-player roster for their respective teams for next season but it is worth noting that all but one were available prior to the playoffs, prior to locking non-playoff teams.
To be honest, it took me a couple hours to compile all of this. It would be much simpler to keep all teams unlocked, allowing active managers of non-playoff teams the chance to acquire players such as the above and/or dropped players instead of disallowing teams to keep added players during the playoffs for the upcoming season.

Also... I forget how long of a timeline I put on this poll. I feel it was two weeks but I'm unsure. Either way, I would encourage all to vote once they have the chance. Thanks.
** Edit - confirmed... we have until June 7th to vote. **

I have reopened this poll.
With only 4 of 14 managers having voted, the results do not reflect the position of the majority.
If you haven't done so already, please indicate whether or not you prefer the continued practice of locking non-playoff teams, disallowing them to add players via Free Agents and/or Waivers.

This is an interesting rule. Whether a team makes the playoffs or not, every team should have the same opportunities to improve their roster. That’s just my two cents.
